At IThinkUPC and UPCnet, we are pleased to announce that the Horaris UPC project, the tool for generating, maintaining and fully visualising the schedules of the teaching centres of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), has been awarded the 2025 UPC Award for Quality in University Management, granted by the UPC Social Council. The award was officially presented at the event held on 19 November 2025 in the Auditorium of the Escola de Camins, as part of the annual ceremony in which the Social Council recognises outstanding people and projects in the university community.
The project addressed the need for a single, modern system to manage schedules, calendars and bookings of teaching spaces. Until then, each centre maintained its own tools, often outdated and costly to maintain.
To meet this need, the UPC developed the centralised management tool, while UPCnet, through its Digital and Analytics teams, created the Business Intelligence module that integrates timetable information with PRISMA student data, as well as the web and mobile visualisation tools (integrated into the UPC app). The project is a clear example of cross-centre collaboration between faculties, general services and UPCnet, developed using agile methodologies and with a strong commitment to innovation and service quality.
The application integrates within a single environment the functionalities for managing calendars, groups, teaching spaces, assessment tests and non-regulated activities, and sends the information to institutional systems such as PRISMA, BIUPC and the UPC app. Currently, 14 of the 16 UPC centres use Horaris UPC to some degree, and since its launch, more than 585,000 bookings of teaching spaces have been managed.
