Recently, the creation of a digital twin of Barcelona has been announced to improve the city’s planning, management, and development, making it more sustainable, efficient, safe, and resilient. This project is led by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), with IThinkUPC actively collaborating.
This technological platform aims to develop a virtual replica of the city, allowing for the simulation of various urban development scenarios and anticipating their impact.
By integrating cartographic, mobility, sociodemographic, and other resources, the project aims to optimize decision-making in areas such as urban planning and the management of large events.
Designed as a robust, flexible, and scalable platform that integrates various technologies and capabilities to manage, visualize, and analyze complex urban data, other cities like Viladecans and Kobe (Japan) are also participating in the project.
IThinkUPC is responsible for coordinating the design and implementation tasks of the technological platform, as well as ensuring the successful deployment of the various identified use cases.
