Recently, we have co-authored a scientific paper with Fundació “la Caixa” and SIRIS Academic titled “AI-assisted pre-screening of biomedical research proposals: ethical considerations and the pilot case of ‘la Caixa’ Foundation”. On July 10, we presented it at the Data for Policy 2024 conference held in London.
The presentation took place during the “6C – St4.a: Ethics, Equity & Trustworthiness” session of the conference and described how Fundació “la Caixa” manages biomedical research calls using AI-based models designed and developed by IThinkUPC, ensuring a fair and transparent use of such tools.
The presentation highlighted the importance of ethics in the use of artificial intelligence, especially in sensitive processes like the selection of research proposals. Additionally, it identified areas that require further improvement to continue progressing toward the responsible use of these technologies.
