Description
In this session, we share some of the experiences undertaken by IThinkUPC regarding the integration and automation capabilities offered by Centreon with various DevOps, ITSM (IT Service Management), and external notification systems. These integrations enable a faster and more efficient response to events related to the state of monitored services, with the goal of improving our services’ resilience and reducing recovery times in case of outages.
We present a practical demonstration showcasing different use cases where these tools are applied in everyday monitoring operations. Specifically, we focus on the following scenarios, leveraging the Centreon platform along with various DevOps and communication tools:
- Automatic Notification Sending: Personalized emails and Google Chat.
- Automatic Ticket Creation in ITSM Solutions: Using Jira Service Desk and others.
- Automatic Scaling: Automatic launching and termination of instances belonging to an AWS Auto Scaling Group (ASG).
- Automated Response to Events: Utilizing the DevOps tool Rundeck.
- Combined Scenario: Capturing global events (using a manager like StackStorm) from various sources (e.g., Centreon), defining and executing actions in a fully controlled manner (using Rundeck), and processing the results for notifications and ticket creation.
